Beyonce Knowles was Born September 4, 1981 to parents Mathew Knowles and Tina Beyince. Her name, Beyonce, was a tribute to her mothers mainden name (Beyince). Beyonce began singing at a very young age, winning over 30 song and dance competitions by the time she was a teenager. As part of an all girl quartet, known at that time as "Girl's Tyme", Beyonce made appearances on Star Search, never to win the competition. Beyonces Father, Matthew, quit his then 6 figure job as a Xerox salesman to help his beloved daughter to acheive the success that she worked so hard for. In 1996, Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson, and LeToya Luckett were signed to Columbia Records, giving the singers financially broken family a second chance. "Girl's Tyme" later became known as "Destiny's Child", a multi hit group that topped the charts with four number one hits, and a multitude of top 40's.
